Printers and ink??

I print very little. 50 pages per year.
I had a Dell V715 all in one. Worked great till the ink dried in the print head after 147 pages printed. Dell's solution was to replace the print head. At $110.
Ink cost $89.
I bought a HP 6700 Premium at $149 to replace it. It is a low volume printer and cleans the head after idle time passes. Now the ink does not dry out but only getting about 100 pages before the low ink warning comes up.

If this one goes bad I will go to laser. Color laser is much better quality. At work we have laser printers in remote locations that may print once per quarter for reports. The printers are over 10 years old and no problems.

The best thing you can do is get yourself a laser printer. I have been thru a couple of ink jets. The ink was so expensive, dried up when you needed it. About 6 years ago I bought a Samsung Clp-300 series laser printer. The toner cartridges last for a very long time. I bought these little chips off Amazon that allow you to fill the cartridges with raw toner. This thing has been great. It is fast, always ready and never dries up. The only drawback is the old inkjet I had could do photo prints. The laser will do photo prints, but they are not nearly photo quality. I just upload my photos to the local pharmacy and get my pics that way.
This is the newer version of the one I bought, but it is pretty much the same.

Good luck, Dave

I agree with you, go laser.
We went through 2-3 ink jets over the years, and finally got a Samsung black and white laser printer, that looks very similar to the color laser printer in the link you provided.
May actually pick up that Samsung color laser too.

I have a Samsung CLP-310N colour laser... had it for about 5 years, still working great. It's connected to my network router, so any device, PC, tablet, smartphone in the house can print to it anytime. I'm sure it won't last forever, but at $110, I feel it was a good deal. Toner is cheap compared to ink. Over the last 15 years, I've had 6 inkjets, even a Canon that cost $250, none lasted over a year.

We got a Cannon MF4770 at Best Buy for $89. It's an all-in-one, meaning printer, copier, fax and scanner, but not color. Got an extra cartridge on line for $18. Cartridge lasts for 4 - 5 K copies. What more could you want?

Went through this last week. If you can print something every week to keep the ink from drying and you print less than 250 pages/month then go with an inkjet. Otherwise, shell out the cash for a LaserJet.

I have used Epsons for many years. My last ones were the 400, the 800 and now the Workforce 545. They are great inkjet printers for people who print often. I generally print at least 5 pages a day and sometimes much more. Many times I used to print out newsletters by the hundreds.

I buy most of my ink off ebay and the last pack of 10 new high capacity cartridges I bought was $10.25 with free shipping. I have found the generic ink cartridges to be just as reliable as the OEM ones.

If you rarely use your printer many cartridges will dry up and stop up.

Epson's have individual ink wells, so you only have to replace the one that's out. You can get really reasonable ink at Printer Ink Cartridges, Inkjet Cartridges & Cheap Ink. I order from them about once every year or two. Still using a 10 year old Epson. Can't beat it to death.

I am interested in the new Brother printers. They print sideways, so they can print not only 8.5 x 11, but they can print 11 x 17 as well. Still reading review on them.

I have a HP color laser and a HP B&W laser all in one. I also have a HP 24" wide format inkjet. For everyday use the laser is the way to go, no smearing or dried up ink. I buy all my toner from Imagine Office, about half the cost of HP toner.

This printer is pretty cheap. I can't see where it's a laser printer on ad. How much is toner?
