Santa is asking for xmas lists. Besides asking for tractor implements, I think it's time for a printer.

I'd like to be able to print photo quality pics of the tractor & the boys (see attached).

What are good printers these days? I'm kinda out of the technology loop. Looking for a head start on where to do my research.

Thanks

Showing off how smart he is. Don't have to tell them twice where to be when it is cold out.

Hazmat,
Great photos,
I am partial to the HP printers. I am presently running with an HP 970 and have been very happy wth it, when I bought it about 2 years ago, I paid around $250. It can now be purchased for much less.
I have printed out ALOT of pictures on it and am quite satisfied with the quality. With a glossy photo paper the pictures look great, Not perfect mind you, but close enough for me.

Me, too, but since I haven't used anything else the last 9 years, I don't have anything to compare to so couldn't say whether there are others that might be better. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

After I looked into the cost of paper, cartridges, and the printer itself, I figured that it would be cheaper to take the disk to the photo store and have them print them. I just remove the ones that I don't want from the disk and have them print the rest. They can also do a great job of color balancing and cropping for the best results and it doesn't cost very much....

i am partial to epson printers the one i have now is epson stylus photo 890 less than 1 year old and don't even know if it is available anymore. no matter what printer u get i(this is MHO) IT IS BEST TO use the printer manufactures inks and paper. i don't print that many pics, just if i want one or am doing a special project. i use 3 types of paper,, PHOTO QUALITY GLOSSY, PREMIUN PHOTO GLOSSY AND HEAVY WEIGHT MATTE PAPER. BELEIVE ME with a photo printer and good paper the cost can be a bit much. best to take thememory card in to the store and have them print for u. now if u ain't worried too much about the cost , u can have a lot of fun doing them yourself.

I have an HP Photosmart 7550. It has three ink cartridges, black for text, tri-color for text with colors and a photo ink cartridge for pictures. This is the best printer I have owned! There are probably better out there, but this fills my needs very nicely and I can buy the cartridges locally.
I have a Pentax 35 mm camera sitting on the closet shelf drawing dust. Ocassionally I will get it out to use the telephoto lens for wild life or for portraits, but the lions share of my photography is digital camera. This is where the HP printer shines. My son also has a digital camera and between the two of us we keep that printer busy. Some of the digital photos my son has taken and printed off on the HP, has won awards from shows he has entered.
Didn't mean to get on a soap box, but when you look at printers, be sure they are a photo quality printer if you want to do pictures.

Not to change the subject, but is there anyone here who buys the $30 printers out there ($30 AFTER rebate), and then throw them away when the ink cartridges are empty? It seems this is actually cheaper, but much much more wasteful. I mean you're getting a printer and full ink cartridges for a few dollars less than the color refill. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I can hear the landfills filling up already. Anyone?
