Hey, thanks Ray, Bob, and Tony! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I did take a quick look at the iPhoto information, and as far as I can see, it is only for Mac users, which I am not. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But I'm sure there is something out there. Additionally, the software we're looking at using not only categorizes the items in a variety of ways, but it also allows us to show how the art work looks with different frames, matting techniques, and tracks inventory. I don't know that iPhoto would have been able to do all of that.

But again, thanks for the tip! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey Tony, I'll match your wireless network and up you one more. I put in an Airport Extreme at the house for my 12" G4 PowerBook and the wife's 15" iBook, all hooked to the internet via a bi-directional satellite (no cable or DSL where I live). I was so happy with the wireless network I put one in my office connected up via ethernet to our IBM AS/400 that runs out business. My office is adjacent to the conference room so now when we have presentations we slip wireless cards in other people's laptops, if they are Windows users, so they can connect up the Apple wireless network and access the AS/400.

I was a PC user, switched to Mac 10 years ago, switched back to Windows, and now I am back to Mac. The Apple Macs are simply so much better. I can exhange Excel, Word, PowerPoint docs with all the Windows people out there, never worry about viruses, and not ever have my system crash . . . something that happens all to often with the Windows users. We have 2 tech support guys working here just to maintain the Windows PCs and none to maintain the Mac units. We have another guy who maintains the AS/400 and he has more trouble with his PC than the rest of the other 25 units combined!!!

Anyway we are WAY off the thread topic here!

For HOME users, I strongly recommend a small Dye-Sub printer, typically under $200, for printing photographs. Even with the new inks, the ink-jets simply are not as good. And the ink-jet printers use up those expensive factory inks at a very rapid pace when the kids use the printer for their "projects."

That's because people that write those viruses don't waste their efforts on writing them for the Mac because it won't cause a panic, for no one would notice from the lack of Mac Users.

That is probably true, but it still works in the favor of the Mac users. And for those of us who have both, because I do have a Windows computer at home (that is plugged in but mostly just collects dust) and I help train people at the office on Windows systems, particulary the use of M.S. Outlook, Word and PowerPoint, we have seen both sides of both systems. There are some downsides to Macs, but most people will never experience those, and most computer users, particularily business users, will find that maintainence and cost of ownership issues are lower on Macs eventhough the cost of purchase is typically higher. Home users may not see those cost savings because they rarely upgrade their systems so the higher cost of the hardware is a bigger issue and often the reason people buy Windows PCs. What I find most interesting are the die-hard Windows people who start to play with Macs. They often change their opinions.

Re: Printers? Need to show off the pics of my tra

I use an Epson Stylus Photo-1280. It can use paper to 13" wide. Using photo catridges and paper, it works excellent. I bought it a couple years ago, based on recomendations from a Photography teacher.

Remember, even with a good printer, you need to use good ink and good paper.
