Yanmar YM2500
Hey again,

This time, i'm thinking of buying Yanmar YM3000, OR maybe a little bigger....

I'm selling my 1997 Mahindra 485 D.I. and my Yanmar YM2000........The Mahindra is now too big for what I need, and the Yanmar is a little too small for what I need.......Thats the ONLY reason I'm selling them.

My main tasks will be some bush-hogging, and finish mowing about 5-7 acres.......Oh...and a small garden too.....It is mainly just a hobby though.......My tractors keep me out of trouble.

What about the YM3000???.........I REALLY like this tractor........I know where one is for sale for $5000.00, but haven't went to the dealer to look at it yet....IS THAT A GOOD PRICE?.....I'll be going there Saturday.

A friend that I hunt with has one (he's probably in his mid 60's).......I know that tractor would be ALL I would need, and probably make some money on the side with it when I get time also.......ARE PARTS EASY TO GET FOR THIS MODEL?...I know its equivalent to a J.D. 950 or maybe a 850???......Someone will clarify this i'm sure.......

Should I consider any other model besides the YM3000??........Any ideas??..........I will be purchasing a new set of 5' disks, OR a used Yanmar tiller and a 5' box blade, depending...........

Another thing.......I WOULD/WILL PURCHASE FROM ANY DEALER ON HERE TOO..............So dealers, please e-mail me at tricks@charter.net or send me a PM if your interested in my business..........The tractor would have to be delivered to my house....

WHATEVER I DECIDE TO BUY, I'LL HAVE TO KEEP FOR A LONG, LONG TIME.

Thanks for the replies in advance,

I think he said his friend was in his mid 60's, not the tractor.

Your friend does not have a 60s model YM3000.

Uh, you need to read that again, Bruce;) .

Travis, why is the Mahindra too big. Does it not fit where it needs to go? Is it too heavy to haul? What about it is too big? Seems it may be the tractor you should keep?

Yea, I here good things about Mahindras and from the model # it don't sound like it would be that much bigger than a YM3000. I don't know though....I looked up the M485 45 hp about 4100 lbs. YM 3000 33 hp about 2600 lbs. So I guess there is some difference but the M485 should brush hog nicely......Of course Travis could prob put money in his pocket and just have one tractor to mess with?

Dave,

The tractor itself is too big........The horsepower is wonderful, but its just the size of the machine that I don't need..........I can't get under the trees to get close to the base to cut around it.........Its hard to manuver around in some 'tight' spots that I have...........I have a considerable amount of obstacles...........I really could do better with a ZTR mower......But, that wouldn't be any fun and besides, it don't have a 3-point hitch!

Again, if I needed this heavy and bulky tractor, I would keep it.........But I figure I could pass it on to someone who could really use the thing, for the size that it is.

Great,

The Mahindra 485 is MUCH bigger than a YM3000........Its not even comparable......And YES, I am going to put a little money in my pocket by only having one tractor to 'mess' with.......For me, it just makes more sense in my case...

but.. you just ironed out the startup issues with your YM2000 ! Maybe get rid of the mahindra and the implements and just buy new/used smaller implements? One thing to think of, is the choosing, and startup stress of getting another machine is a lot... remember the posts on your last startup machine !

So, let me just ask, if you had smaller implements for the 2000, would you keep it? If so, then get rid of the mahindra and large implements and buy smaller stuff.... just my .02 . either way, good luck ! 8)
