I just finished restoring a Ford 850 with a Wagner loader. It has a Cross 3 spool control valve. Everything works, but when not using any hydraulics, the hose to the control valve vibrates like crazy. I am told that it is building pressure and that something is either clogged or it is not by-passing effectively. The same hose also seems to get warm very fast. Any ideas on where to start looking?

Well, just put a hyd gage in the system. You should have very little pressure, if any, with all valves in neutral.

Problem solved. Someone had replaced the original pump with one that is at least twice the size as it should be. Although I could not tell for sure, the oversize unit may have been producing 30 to 40 gpm. The local New Holland dealer had a new one for under $300.00 and the loader works perfectly.
