Fungus---I thought I would never use the 17mm in my toolbox! Yippee!!!!!!!!

I hope the engine heater comes in next week from Tractorsmart. I need to drain the 1-year old coolant anyways..

Why are you replacing 1-year-old antifreeze?
2 years is the recommended change.

Here is an easy way to install the heater in your BX. I used it and I have seen post from others that have used it on TBN with success. If you have a pan under the plug when you remove it there will be no mess to cleanup. Click Here

Well I have an additional 4 gallons of Fleetrite antifreeze that the wife bought since she heard me say we are low on anti-freeze. Little did she know I was joking since we still had 3 gallons left.

So I have more anti-freeze then the international dealer I buy it from!

Well guys,
Installed the block heater yesterday. Nice and easy with all the help from Fungus and CAjohnson. Thanks guys. I am now the designated holder of the 17mm hex bit so if anybody needs it send me an email. Fungus another question for you.
Working in that area of the block got me curious as to what that red electrical connector is for. I know its hot but I'm wondering if any of you B21 owners know what connects there.

Glad to here things are warming up for you /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

That bundle of wires/connector is a 50A slow blow fuse that supplies power to the fuse box and main switch.

Since my workshop manual does not contain any copyright notice that I can find you can download the B21 schematic here.

I work in a petro chemical plant and we use Teflon tape all of the time,on new fittings, installing pressure gauges, pipe fittings. It has never been an issue. The industrialized professional pipefitters use it in the plant too. We also use the pipe dope.

I finally put the block heater in. Engine plug was easy to get out (remove) . Needed a 36" breaker bar. I plugged it in this morning and it really WORKED!

It took more time to remove loader, BX grill and side plastic then to install the heater.

One note, be careful of the oil sensor wire. Also the coolant does go all over.

John D... Do you still have the 17 mm hex wrench for the block heater? If so, please contact me via Email. There is another TBNer waiting on it.

John
