Problem starting TLB in the cold

Put the new battery in and am waiting for the block heater to arrive from Tractorsmart. How bout a lead on where to get one of those 17mm hex nut wrenches. Thanks

I got mine from Sears, its a Craftsman. Came in a nice plastic carrying case.

Last night was the coldest so far I think. 30 below. I put a blanket over the engine and it made a world of difference. The engine was about 50 degrees before I started it this morning. You can get the magnetic heaters at NAPA. I stuck one to the bottom of the battery holder.

Ok guys got the block heater in. I contacted a TBN member that has the 17mm hex bit to see if I can get it. If not I will try my local Sears. Fungus, Just one other question. Where did you get that nifty little black cover for the block heater for when the AC plug is disconnected? My block heater did not come with one. Thanks

Well I took the plunge and thought I would order the block heater since I hate holding the glow plugs as long as I do; for cold temps (ie. below 15) is about 6 to 9 seconds. I figure it is cheaper ,and quicker, to use an engine block heater for $35, vs glow plugs at $30 each (need 3).

It’s one of those vinyl caps used to protect the ends of hydraulic lines. I found one floating around the battery compartment when my tractor was new. Your tractor dealer probably has lots of them or they can be had at the hardware store.

Also, it helps to have a 1 3/8” socket for the install. Use plenty of Teflon tape.
