I have a 2008 Kubota B3030HSD which I purchased new in 2008. The tractor has been trouble free until now. The 3 point hitch will not stay up. Its not that the hydraulic lift isn't working, its that the position control lever has lost most of its resistance and will not hold the implement in position. It will hold the implement up in only the highest position, otherwise the position control lever will lower over a period of a few seconds (which then lowers the implement). There is a flow control valve located under the seat which can be turned to restrict the flow of hydraulic fluid which allows me to keep the implement up, but that is not convenient or how its to be used. Does any one know if this is a easy, or involved fix. It could be as simple as replacing a couple of friction washers or tightening some nuts. I stopped into my Kubota dealer and talked to the service department(without the tractor). They were very nice and tried to be helpful, but we were not able to come up with any answers by looking at the service manual. I will have to bring the unit in and have them look at it. I hope that I will not have to spend a lot of money for there learning experience. If anyone has any suggestions or information on this problem, I would like to hear from you! I have purchased 3 new Kubota tractors over the years(presently have 2) and they have been trouble free. My problem is just one of those things, and I am not bashing Kubota in any way.

Position control repaired! The snow and salt were finally off the road, so I was able to take my tractor to the dealer. The shop manual was not of much help, but we determined that the lack of resistance was being caused by a worn friction washer on the position control lever shaft. All of the shop manual trouble shooting references referred to problems with the internal position control module ($$$$$). Total damages amounted to $24.10 and one trip! This has been (knock on wood) the only issue with the tractor in 8 years. Have had very good luck with my Kubota's, and hope it stays that way.

When you say position control lever shaft, do you mean the rubber-handled control lever that raises and lowers the 3Pt hitch? And, if so, is the friction washer found at the point where this lever pivots underneath the fender along the side of the transmission? Or is the position control lever shaft something different. I'm just trying to understand exactly where the problem was so I can check it out on my tractor.

Either way, I'm glad that you got it fixed and welcome to TBN.

The position control lever is the lever that is located on the right fender. It goes down to a shaft that is located on the right side of the transmission/axle assembly. The lever is held in place on the shaft by what looks like two 15mm nuts. It is actually one nut and a friction washer (friction washer is a nut with a washer attached to it). The technician had to put allot of pressure on the nut and friction washer to break them loose. He did replace the washer to keep the nuts from becoming loose again. I think the washer lost some of its concave shape over the 8 years. Hope it doesn't become loose again, but it will be easy to repair. Just glad it wasn't a internal problem.
