I used my zero turn three times this year and for the second time after adding gas after a 4 hours of mow time it ran, went 15 feet and stopped, it would not start. My neighbor who does work for me came up made sure there was gas getting to engine, then took carb off took it home and freed it. Brought it back attached to zero turn mowed today for about 4 hours. I stopped placed gas in mower and again the same thing went 15 feet and stopped and would not start.

Even when cool will not start. It seems as it takes time to get into carb and then it will run a little and then shut off even when cool.

I am sure it is that stupid needle that controls gas flow into carb. Does that go bad? I do not want it to be taken apart again only to mow 4 hours and have the same thing happen.

I am getting so far behind on my mowing I spent 4 hours today, when I normally spend 2 due to the tall grass. I do not want to keep paying somebody to take it apart and still have a problem. Has anybody experienced this problem?

IT is worth it to me to put in new parts I do not have time for breakdowns would rather pay for new parts then mess around. Any advise?? can just the needle thing be replaced? What a pain this is as I really needed to mow today and it is supposed to rain all week this week and now I am even farther behind.

Has anyone else had this issue.

None of us like to have repair done and not have the problem fixed.

If you paid to have it done, and it wasn't, then I'd invite the person to take another look. Seems the neighbor was a bit quick to pull the carb off and "freed" it, whatever that might have meant. But probably don't know the whole story.

Seems related to putting gas in as it happened twice.

Does it run ok when you mowed the 4 hours each time?

There has been some problems related to the throttle/choke cable adjustment causing tough to start and flooding conditions. Take a look at how the carb is moving in relation to you cable control movement may need to adjust to get proper travel.

Have you checked the fuel pickup opening in the tank to be sure it is not plugged?
If you do not keep a cap on your filler spout, insects can get inside them & get washed into the tank when you fill up.

im having the same problem with my 425 ztrak and like ctlguy have read of problems with throttle/choke cable, was wondering which way to adjust to solve the problem ? thinking ive also seen where there was a recall on one year that requires the needle valve to be changed, anyone else recall that ? i havent tried either yet but blowing air into the line usually gets me going long enough to get the property cut .

I have a similar problem with my Z425 - to start it would only run for a few seconds then die, now it will run but not at full power and it is intermittent. I had noticed that when my wife let it run out of gas there was debris in the bottom of the tank and when I changed the fuel filter there was debris in there too. I have not removed and cleaned the fuel tank and I wonder if there is now dirt in the carb. Is this easy to remove and clean? Can the tank be clewed out without reming it?
