I just bought a CC 1042 a few months ago and it has about 16 hours on it. Over the weekend, the engine started missing real bad and it got worse when going through taller grass or up a slight incline. It misses whether the blades are on or off. I mowed with it for about an hour hoping it was something caught in the fuel line that would work itself out but it didn't.

I just put new gas in it right before using it, and the gas shouldn't be a bad quality. I checked the air filter and fuel filter, both were clean. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?? Thanks.

Dumping and replacing the gas would be a cheap test.
You never know.
Also, you might pull the plug, clean it, and check the gap.
One last thing, check all your exposed wiring and look for any wear that might be arcing or grounding during vibration.

hope it helps.

Tip your gas can up onto one edge and let it sit that way for a while. Then look into the bottom with a flashlight. If you have water in the gas can, you should be able to see it.

You might want to try a part of a can of Heet gas line dryer and see if that helps.

besides all the usual suspects you should have already changed the oil out. It is recommended that you change the oil out in the first 10 hours (give or take a few).
