Problem with my LT1024

Reverse seems to be fine. In fact if I could mow grass in reverse, I could probably cut it pretty fast. If it's linkage that should be easy to adjust one would think, if I know what I'm looking for.

Finally got a chance to look closer at my 1024. Played with the linkage and everything looks tight/responsive. Now I don't know what it's supposed to look like and I really don't see anywhere to adjust it. Took of the right rear wheel to get at everything to do this.

Looked at the belt. While not 'worn out' it does have some cuts all from one side to the other in several places. I will have to replace this belt for sure. Would these cuts in the belt account for slow movement?

The operators manual should give instructions on how to adjust linkages. If you do not have the manual that came with the machine, you can down load it from the CC website. Along the left of the CC home page there is a button called "Manuals." Just click on that and find the operators and service manual for your model. You will need the Model and Serial numbers from the tractor. Sounds like a linkage adjustement if you don't see the problem in reverse, but could be in the tranny as well.

You can also go into the CC website under parts and look at exploded views of all of the different subassemblies of the tractor. I looked as the 1042 drive system to see how it was configured. F/N 44 of the Drive System is the Hydro Control Rod. There is a 3/8 ferrule on the pedal end of that rod. If that ferrule started to slide just a little it would reduce the stroke and not give you full speed. Other than that one adjustment, I did not see any other adjustments to drive system, and that would not be temperature sensitive.

You might take a look at the website and see what you can come up with.

If it's not the linkage, the belt or an issue with the spring loaded belt tensioner pulley, then the trouble lies within the hydro transaxle itself. It's no secret there have been some issues with this exact problem in the 1000 series LT's, many of them were the spring and pulley, some were the Hydro-Gear transaxle itself. Check the simple stuff first, most dealers are aware of this problem and should know what item it is right away.
