Re: Problem with my new cub...I\'m bummed

got my tractor back yesterday, they said it was the inlet needle that was causing my problems, must've been sticking and then swelling a bit when the engine got hot. Ran fine yesterday, just finished cutting when it started to rain. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Now, when I bought it, they couldn't find the manual, but they are ordering me a new one, but I saw some comments to my questions about changing the oil after 5hrs of run time. Is this standard with all small engines? What kind of oil do I need to use?

I did get an oil filter when I was at the dealer the other day, but didn't get a transaxle filter. Does that also need to be changed after 5hrs? What kind of tranny fluid do I need?

Also, how often to I grease the zerks (steering/wheel bearings/belt pulleys) and what kind of grease do I use?

Re: Problem with my new cub...I\'m bummed

General rule is to change the motor oil after the first 5-10 hours of use. In fact on the EFI Tanks afer 5 hours the "change oil" light comes one...has freaked a few customers out that I forgot to mention it to!

Anyway, the trans. fluid should be changed once a year or every 100 hours (Might be different for your model which is a few years old). Cub makes their own fluid for the trans., its expensive but I would suggest using it during the warranty period just in case.

I would suggest greasing it after every three-to-four uses.

thanks gamble!
I hope I get my manual soon, then I won't be asking these what seem to me to be dumb questions.

Most of the operator manuals can be downloaded in PDF format from the MTD website.

Cub, in their warranty books states that within the first year the dealer will pick up/repair/ and return to you for no charge your mower. I checked with the dealer who sold me mine and he stated that was a correct statement.
