Hello, I own a Jinma 224. My PTO does not want to engage. I used to leave the PTO engaged and leave the PTO speed select in neutral or 540 if I wanted it engage or disengage it. I recently played with the engagement lever for the PTO and the arm felt stiff and like it wasn’t actually moving properly (sloppy). I tried adjusting the length of the bolt on the rod that slides in and out in the tractor that is actuated by the cam on the engagement lever with no luck. The problem started after I played with the PTO engagement lever. I got it to disengage & engage a few times and then just stopped working. Now the arm is all stripped and the bent where it threads in. I figure something is not working internally. I don’t suspect the clutch but who knows. Anything I can do before I start major disassembly? Any hints/suggestions in the whole disassembly process?

Sounds like the shift lump has broken or fell out,It's not a real big job to remove the hydraulic lift box it's just heavy,That will give you access to the area that the spline sleeve and shift lump is in.We keep the parts and will help you over the phone if needed.Just let us know

Thanks for the quick reply, I going to take a look at it tonight. Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing, the problem I am referring to is the lever arm that engages and disengages the PTO, not the speed selector lever (1000, Neutral, 540).

As someone who recently removed the hydraulic sump, let me STRONGLY suggest you get an engine hoist to help with this. I almost broke my back getting mine off my 454LE, was impossible to get back on without a hoist. That thing is heavy!
