Problem with wiring

I have bx22 .if you move wires under gas tank tractor will start,but if I take my hand off switch it shuts off.any help

Any time you move wires and something happens you have a short or bad connection in that area. You will need to track down the offending wire and repair/replace as needed. You may have more than one problem so start with the easiest first.

Start with the safety switches.

More likely an intermittent open.
Shorts are when wires connect or short to ground that aren't supposed to or when they aren't supposed to as in a short circuit, many times resulting in letting the magic smoke escape.

Probably where the wiring connects to the key switch in this example. Always look for opens at the connecting ends and terminals first as it's usually a loose screw or something.
