There seems to be a lot of people trying to decide between getting a BX-series tractor or something larger. One issue that keeps coming up is the difficulty with matching implements to the tractor. Although I have not found it particularly difficult for the things I've been looking at, I thought it might help to get some feedback from other BX owners on specific things they've had trouble with.

So, here's what I've got and the problems I've experienced:

1) TSC (Tractor Supply house brand, usually Howse or King Kutter, depending on what it is and when bought) middle-buster (potato plow) and carry-all: no problems at all.

2) Caroni FL1200 tiller: came with 4-plate slip clutch. To adjust it correctly requires backing the bolts off almost all the way. This is really an issue for any small HP tractor, not just BX'es.

3) TSC sub-soiler: It is too long to transport on the 3pt hitch. Needs to be about 4 inches shorter.

4) Backhoe: Not a problem for me since I have a BX22, but Kubota does not recommend putting one on other BX'es. I've seen a few others around that have done it, so I thought I would mention it to see if we could get any feedback.

We have sold BX's with a variety of implements and haven't experienced these "implement limitations" that some have refered to. On some implements, you have to move the lower mounting pins to the inside position and on some you may have to readjust the lift control rod under the seat. I would like to hear just what implements people are having trouble with.

Lewis,

I was always under the impression that this lift control simply determines the drop rate of the 3PH. It can not increase the height of the lift. Thus I would think that any implement that is to tall for the lift height of the BX 3ph would be an issue. I've even had an issue with the lift height of the B2410 with my rotary cutter. Adjusting that control under the seat doesn't help.

The black knob under the front of the seat controls the drop rate of the 3 pt. hitch. The control rod is actually part of the 3 pt. linkage. When you speak of an issue of lift height with your rotary mower, do you mean with the tailwheel? If this is a problem, shorten your top link and this will raise the tailwheel clearance for going on and off trailers. You will probably have to readjust to start mowing.

I have some implements left over from my Ford 8N,
some from the Ford 2000 and some from Tractor Supply that I use on my BX2200 (194 hours)
The Sub Soiler from TSC I cut 5 inches out of the center, welded it back together and it works great.
I lowered the pins on TSC's Carry all, all three. The distance from the upper link to the lower pins needs to be about 16 inches so it will raise and lower evenly.
I use a disk from the 8N and I added some plates to lower the pins so I could pick it up and move it.
The only problems using Cat one implements on the BX2200 and I guess any other subcompact tractors is that you need to adjust (Lower) the pins to fit the CUT.
I also have some implements from an older Kubota that Needed the pins spread apart to make them more stable.
I think the chop saw and the welder are the best attachments a CUT owner could have

I have a BX2200 and have not had problems using my buddies implements on his much larger John Deere. I have used his large rough cut mower, his 350LB bell spreader and his disk. While I would not recomend usings these larger implements on steep slopes, I found that the BX2200 handled all the implements with relative ease. It was interesting that the shaft he uses to hook up his spreader worked on my BX without any modifications. This setup has drastically cut down on our time preparing the fields at our hunting club.

I do want to say that while my implements are smaller I have had no problems with keeping up with larger tractors. It might take me more passes, but I can manuever in places that they can't, and my implements can be handled by one person. Its nice to be able to pick up my 4' box blade and stand it on its end to save space in the garage.
