Problems with Kubota Mower Decks- RCK60-29B

Two things to figure out . . .

1. Our twenty-five year old tractor cuts the grass better than our new B2620. Lots of bald spots when mowing. Any ideas? Are you having similar problems?

2. After 6 months one of the anti scalp rollers broke off. We had it welded and it seemed to work, but now the wheel mower frame are bent. Anyone having similar problems?

I'd say the deck is not adjusted right, the wheel breaking off is the tell tale. They should be 1/4 to 1/2" off the ground on the level when mowing. Could your lawn be that unlevel?

The deck wheels are only to prevent scalping......as stated previously, they should be above the ground when mowing.

I bought a B2620 two months ago and am not real happy about the mowing performance.Mine has the 54 inch deck.I have been seriously thinking about getting a GR2120 for mowing,I actually just got a price on one about 20 minutes ago.It is a lot of money just to mow my yard so I will have to think on it.

I have the 54" deck and it cuts very well. This is my 5th season. I sharpen the blades once a year. The manual states how to install and adjust it properly, which is important. And as others have said, the anti-scalp rollers should be set up so they are not touching the ground...about 1/2 inch off the ground. Best to set up the deck on a hard flat surface. I do mine in the garage which has a concrete floor.

I have the 60" and it cuts great. It had to have taken a pounding to loose a caster, so I recon your adjustment is also gone. As others have said, they are not intended to be in contact all the time, and when they are, they don't fall off.

I also have a 54" on my BX23 (2004) it cuts great...Adjusting the wheels to 1/2-1/4 on concrete is a must...including deck leveling, although I've only had to do that once in 9 years and my lawn ain't a golf course...The deck shouldn't be bouncing off the ground while mowing, if it is it's not adjusted correctly or the ground is bad enough to need a brush hog.

My BX also cuts great. Proper adjustment it the key.

I only have 5 hours cutting, but I am happy with the quality and performance. The wheels are at the proper setting according the the manual, but I'm surprised how much the wheels contact the ground considering I have a flat lawn. I will measure the height off the garage floor tonight and make sure its got 1/2 inch clearance.
