Dang!
I'd have gone bezerkoid on them if they had approached my wife or kids or anyone else on my property. Then the cops would have a lot of paperwork to do after that.
You are correct. If the OP wants to pay a lawyer that much, it is up to him. There are some that will say not to do this, but with sufficient times, actions, and all other pertinent info regarding the altercations, one should be able to defend the case in the court system himself. The trespass is a Civil Suit and the Assaults are Criminal. Let the DA handle those that are criminal. I doubt that the Accused are going to fork out $8,000-$10,000 for a lawyer. If it were me, I would go through the court system myself. Even if time didn't permit, I would take vacation days to perform this task. Most certainly cheaper. If it is a civil manner go to a magistrate and press charges for trespass. I'm not familiar with laws in other states but in NC if someone is trespassing and you ask them to leave and they don't it is first degree trespass. I agree that touching, pushing, threatening and contact by a four wheeler is assault. That is NOT a civil matter it is criminal.
(3) A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a felony involving the use of force.
The above paragraph is taken directly from the Kentuky governments website concerning defending yourself.
My advise is to arm yourself and the next time someone pushes anyone with a motorized vehicle, shoot them, and then call 911. The first words out of your mouth after the shooting should be to the 911 dispatcher stating very clearly..."I felt my life was in danger, and I shot my attacker. Please send an ambulance and police"
 That's exactly what I would do if I was outnumbered and someone was pushing my wife with anything, especially a vehicle of any kind....same law is here in Georgia.
