Weather was nice around here this past week so I got a chance to get out and keep working on "hill". Constantly amazed at the capabilities of the 4310. Working on the hill does present some chanllenges. Slow, safe, and steady keeps us upright.

Check out some pictures of the project, tractor, and my dog by clicking HERE .

It looks a lot steeper in the pictures. You spend quite a bit of productive time getting positioned to push trees over or drag them down. Trust me is either straight up or straight down......no other options.

Hope to have a trachoe come in next month and pull the bigger stumps after I get everything I can get.

Looks like you had a fun weekend with a nice tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Like the dog too! Labs are great dogs. Pictures were very good. Looks like you pushed up some good sized trees with your tractor. Sometimes a CUT can do things you never thought it could. Very fun toys! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Only a Marine would/could make a mole-hill out of a mountain. Way too steep for my blood but I'm glad that you are having fun. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great looking Lab too....

That's about like my hill behind the house: goes down 100' over about 400'.

I was spreading gravel over a trail that angles across the upper part of it during the beautiful weather on Friday. Did fine until the last bucketful before quitting for the day. It was on a slightly left leaning section with a slight right hand turn. Went to lift the bucket a tad to curl it down, and the right rear wheel lifted off the ground. I leaned that way and quickly curled the bucket down.

Did some checking on a short cut more directly down the hill, because I want to be able to take buckets of mulch down to my garden. Can do. There's a short cut there now but does a little dipsy do that my Gravely could make, but not my JD 4010. Can do a short cut through some small stuff. Will do that before finishing about the last 75' of the trail over to the hill that goes directly down with grass.

I've a little orchard on the grassy, non-wooded part of the hill to the right rear of the house. My trail is across the wooded section.

theboman,

Written word can be taken way out of context from the way it was intended. I'm hoping that is the case here.

Provider for my family........
Obiedant and faithful son...........
Loyal friend...............
Marine Corps 83-93..............

My manhood is secure........................................

As for the safety aspects, they are constantly on my mind, both around the house and at work (115K Volts Kills). You are viewing tiny slices of time, please do not make assumptions on my judgement based on what might be 2 minutes of a weekend project.

Yes, my wife does love me, which is why she is out there the whole time I'm on the hill.

Ellie, the dog, is pretty awesome as well.

I really didn't mean to offend you, and I hope I did not, and if i did I am sorry.

I was looking at the pics and there were a couple pics that made me pucker, not to mention with the bucket kinda high on a couple (not the pushing over stuff).

The center of gravity changes dramatically when the FEL is up. I know when I'm on the hill bush hogging or whatever my FEL nearly bumps along the ground.

Again, I didn't mean to upset you in anyway whatsoever, and thank you for taking care of the family and me as a Marine, if it wasn't for vets like you, my late father, and thousands before them we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Hey boman,

No sweat! Like I said, it was the loss of context that you sometimes end up with in this world of posting.

Just one of those things that hits ya the wrong way, then starts eating at ya.

Wife told me to either politely post something or shutup. She could see both sides. She's a pretty smart gal.

The pucker factor can get high at times working on these hills, if you look down the hill the right side was done via mule (that would be me) labor. Really don't want to go that route again.

I appreciate you input, and I'm sure our talk will cause me to think a bit more than I already do.

I appreciate the sacrafices of your late father.................the real fabric of our society.
