Profile..... everyone should have one.. do you????

I just don't understand why the sudden upheaval of normally level headed people because I asked the question why people don't fill out the profile. 

Without being able to see your face or hear the tone of your voice, I have no way of knowing how important the question is to you. I took the 7 question marks as over emphasis of your tone, which usually indicates that someone wants an urgent response, so I responded. Just like bold, itallic and upper case typing all have inflection, so does punctuation. No ill will was meant, that's why I used the little smiley faces.

I was on several military listserv nets. There, it is required to put at least state and county one lives in. I've seen too many instances where the location became critical for various reasons. I think it imperative to at least put general area of domicile. We have all different types of geological territories, solid rock, clay only, mixtures, it makes not only a big difference, it makes "the" difference when trying to understand what someone is talking about.

I sort of agree with that. Leave off the name and town, but it's a big help to tailor responses if I know how much acreage, type of land and vegetation, rocky vs sandy vs mud, horsepower and implements, etc.

No big deal either way, but some knowledge of conditions and tools you have to work with helps me be helpful. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I am a car collector and I got the name because as any good car collector knows, without spare parts, the cars don't run. I spent most of my spare time back in the early 1980's going to dealerships and buying up all the obsolescent parts inventory. I would bring it home, sort it and then sell it at the flea market at Carlisle PA. I also kept a lot of the better items for my cars. One mans treasure is another mans junk... People would ask what I was going to do with the junk that I had accumulated and that is where the name comes from. My father was in the white metal and precious metal refining business, so I also have a back round in scrap metals. I have always been involved in cars my entire life, from being in the truck equipment business to salvage autos and everything in between. I have been in business in one form or another all of my life. I had many ventures going at once at one time, but as I got older, I divested myself of them. The only thing that I can't figure out is how old age crept up on me when I wasn't looking. We get old too soon and smart too late. Junkmans modified bio

I live next to the biggest nut house in CT. After so many years living here, I can walk amongst them and fit right in. Only time this becomes dangerous is when meds and shots are being passed out. THis started out when my dad owned a junkyard full of cars. In one corner he parked a Chevy delivery van. As I was growing up and mis-behaving, he would make me go inside that van and play with my pogo stick. Five years later, a GM rep happened by. When he saw the raised roof (from my pogo stick playing days) he immediately sent word to Detroit on a new and great idea. Raised roof vans. I'm glad that the GM rep came by and designed these raised roof vans as today, I ride in them frequently. We call it the "wrinkle bus". They take us on short shopping trips, doctor appointments, drop us off at my favorite place, Wal-mart, where they set up a shuffle board area to keep us out of everyone's hair. Every Wednesday, Wal-Mart offers left overs from last weeks spaghetti afternoon specials. One dollar. Immediatley after, we hold a denture cleaning contest and the winner usualy goes home with a tube of Fix-a-dent. Once, I won a quart of #2 diesel fuel that was mis-marked as mouth wash. Man, I was hot talking that week. I still enjoy mingling with those who live next to me. Some itmes I stand in the main hallway with index finger stuck in the left ear. I then announce, I look like a gas pump, huh?.. Then, I run like mad, jump the fence and get home before the fruit police think I really am a permanent resident. Tough to get old, but someone has to do it.

I like to see some information when I check someone's profile and even a limited amount is better than none.

It would be interesting to know how often other TBN members check your profile. Interesting perhaps, but would we really want to find out how frequently (or infrequently) it happens?
