2x what RoyJackson said. Straw Bale houses are one of the most efficient type of buildings out there with regards to energy consumption and resource use, certainly innovative design. Are open minded and educated people "ghetto"? Have you introduced yourself or spoken to them yet? Seems that we need a bit more knowledge on this planet especially since the the time of politician's piercingly loud, never ending scream (my way or no way) that began in earnest 20 or so years ago--I got an earache now!! Nice fence btw jokergerm, :thumbsup: they make good neighbours, you might find that they become your best neighbours, give them the same chance that they'll give you and enjoy the house when you go check it out, it may turn out a lot better than a Viking sod home. There are also designs made from plastic bottles and used tires as well, but SB is the easiest of the alternative designs, go check out RoyJackson's attachments, you might just enjoy them. BTW woodlandfarms, since when did these neighbours become "disruptive", do you own a brick farm or something? :drink: There's my hot air.

That is a nice fence, we are lucky enough to own all of the land around us, but considered building one when we lived elsewhere and decided we could live with the neighbors more than the feeling of being fenced in. The family that bought our house put a fence up.

I'm not going to go near the discussion on types of structures as I can't stand anyone living close to me no matter the type of structure.

Ya its a long story. Short version is we dont like them, and dont want to have to look at them everyday. I understand that straw bales can be done nicely if you do it right. However this seems not to be the case, and the 60 year old woman walks around in a bikini top all the time.

So fence it is. It will be nice to have over 3 acres totally enclosed and private. Now im going to go back to my 2700 fence boards

Not if it's built properly. The straw is covered with stucco.

You see here is the deal, when I was in my 20's I thought 40 to 50 year old women looked kinda old and used up.. Now see I am in my late 50's and those 40 to 50 year old girls look like real "babes" to me.
So if you were 70 lets say.. you might think miss 60 year old looked pretty "hot" in her bikini. It is all relative.
