In life, NOTHING is free. When you're dead, and if by chance you're kids are lucky enough to get something from you at little cost because you're now dead, you're kids are WAY ahead of the game if what you give them isn't worth half of what YOU paid for it in my honest opinion.
I wouldn't want to give my kids something that costs them money in the long run when I'm dead, and generally property isn't the issue as they aren't making it any more.
I tell my own dad to spend all of his money before he's dead because I don't deserve any just because I'm his son, added that I need to try and do better than him in this world.
everyone has different goals. I'd love for my parents to spend their last dime but my kids are getting a nice inheritance...that's part of the motivation to have done better than my parents. That's what my parents wanted for me and that's what I want for my kids. Bottom line, I'm an investment guy. I don't want to put a lot of money into something and have the value diminished. Nobody wants that.
