Yeah I was just getting started but didn't want to seem like I was picking on you. I started cutting firewood with Chainsaws when I was 10. That is 40+ years ago now. I didn't start using safety glasses and ear plugs until I started doing more serious tree work about 10 years ago. Now I wear the helmet chaps glasses and ear plugs just about every time I am running the saw on the ground. Up in a tree I won't do it unless I have all of the head ear and eye protection on..

I don't do the 'up in the tree stuff'.
Much higher than my Massey seat, and I get lightheaded:laughing:

I would have liked to have some of that log for lumber. I've cut trees down that were over 30+inches in diameter with a 16" bar, it's not a hard thing to do just takes a little more time. I figure if the ole timers could cut redwoods with an axe I got life easy

The trunk where I cut it was big, but it "y'ed" off at the 5 foot mark.
The limb that angled the farthest, had rot in the center at several points.
The main trunk has metal in it somewhere, I just haven't found it yet.
It was a 'yard tree' and most yard trees have metal in them somewhere, and it's really hard to find someone willing to put them on their mill to find out.

I noticed that too. I once cut down a 35-40' dead spruce in a friend's yard as a favor. That thing was so full of nails I had to sharpen the saw four times by the time it was cleared out. Figures ... a tree in a large, city back yard, would be full of nails.
