It's been 20 years since I took a hunting course. And in the booklet which is 45 pages long I missed that rule. Many years ago I had a DEC officer who cought me without my license on me as I had fallen in the water and changed all me clothes. With a little conversation he informed me of the rules and let me go.
In this last situation I told the officer that I'd gladly fill the tag out in front of him if he'd let me. Told him my story but it was a waste of time. My EGO feelings are still the same and I paid my ticket. Lesson learned the hard way.
I wouldn't be against having to go to classes every so often to keep up on the rules because it's hard to remember them all.
