Propane ventless Stove for my kennel office

My wife heats her shop (quilting shop) with an unvented heater and keeps it turned low when not in it. She burns about one tank (300 gallons) per heating season. She keeps a lot of her plants in the shop so they wont freeze. We put a CO2 monitor in the shop but it has never registered a problem with the CO2 levels. The heater is the ceramic type that is wall mounted and has a thermostat. I was impressed with her results so I put one in my shop.

How big is her shop? Insulated?

the farm house cabin has one of the bigger blue flame units. works ok but we also had the ceramic type in the work shop that I like better, they are radiant heaters and throw the heat out better. so if you have a wall that you can face it towards the rest of the room they are the ticket. If you dont have a wall that has a good throw area then the blue flame type is OK.

Like others say they do put up the moisture in the room and can put out a good bit of Carbon Monoxide so I would suggest a meter or alarm in same room. mine will jump up when it clicks up/on (blue flame) and increases about 2 or 3 points (still way lower than dangerous levels.)

Mark.

I have a Empire 30K blueflame propane ventless in my living room for emergency heat in the winter. I have used it a couple times to make sure it works. But most of the time I keep in wraped in plastic and ready to go in case I need it. Got to have some type of back up when you live out in the boonies up here in Michigan.

"How big is her shop? Insulated?"

20'x30', super insulated. It is the upstairs over my shop, a 25'x30 gambrial roof garage, converted to a wood shop. It was a beast to get a 12' quilting machine up there. Had to take out the window and lift it up with the loader on the tractor.

I have a comfort glow wall heater in my insulated two car garage. Even with the 11 foot ceilings its enough for the coldest days. I added a blower to it and it keeps the floor/lower part warmer. Cant go wrong if you are carefully with the operation.
