Proper Cold Weather Starting

On the YM2500 bought from Spalding In Ga. I never had to set the Throttle over 1300-1500 rpms either on the Yrs. I used it. Or a problem with the Thermal Start for that matter. How you set the Throttle should not prevent it from Cranking Over. "Carey on TBN Forum".

Apparently doing it right sometimes helps.

Sorry about the mixup. Apologies to you and Scotty. The Hoye link someone provided said after replacing a unit, it could take 15 or so attempts to get the air out. I'll certainly have to do that since my fuel line was removed and is now filled with air. I'll certainly need a fully charged battery for that. Thanks.

I tried it out. With the cold tractor I can turn the thermostart on for 10-12 seconds, off for five seconds, on for another 10-12 seconds and fee warmth around the thermostart.

Why yes it does.

All I know is I ALWAYS start with throttle wide open and NEVER, EVER run the engine wide open. Don't even know what top rpm is.

I have yet find any OTHER Yanmar Manuel that says to Fully Open "wide open" the Throttle when starting. It's a typo...

Carey look at Winston's post #24 above.

"Starting instructions: 6) Push the throttle lever to the maximum speed position. When engine starts pull throttle lever back to halfway".

That can't be a typo.
