Pros and cons of living at the end of a dead end road

well -- can you ask for lower taxes if they stop maintaining the road to your house and let you "take legal ownership" of said bridge and shut down the bridge? with your school kids - you are going have to drive/walk your kids to the end of the road and wait for the bus. DO NOT let bus go up your road (becomes your driveway) so there are no issues in the winter. You dont want to pull the bus out everytime they get stuck with sub driver and you never know if it going to be on your bad day. Just build a shelter for the kids at the end of the road.
To me this is worth the time and cost of having your own space more privately.

Put up a big Dead End sign.
Put up another sign saying, "WARNING, Private Firearms Range"
Put up a third sign saying, "WARNING, Gulf War Vet with PTSD on premises. Enter at your own risk."

We're at the end of a paved road. It's good. Hardly any traffic.

I work naked and often go down the driveway to do some maintenance or to check on things. No one to see me.

My neighbor (who also works naked) and I have tractors to plow out the snow, etc.

End of a dead end road is the perfect place. Our family farm is at the end of a public twp road. Very few cars, usually only the mail man. In our case the road comes right to the house, so a few people kept driving right into the farm fields. Dad eventually painted STOP on his gates. Never had problem with cars, parkers, or the like.

A long time ago, we got Map Quest directions to Mammoth Cave and it took us down a 4 lane highway, which turned into a 2 lane highway, which turned into a 2 lane country road, which turned into a small gravel road, which turned into a dirt lane, which ended in someone's barn! All marked exactly correct, too. :laughing:

* Google maps shows our road as a through road, connecting to the next town. At one time it did connect, I have a map from 1675 that shows the road, but the 1870 map doesn't have it. Google also shows my driveway as a road. So during tourist season I get a lot of people coming down the road, going past my house to the end, coming back five minutes later and driving down my driveway. It's amazing how snippy they can get when I tell them they need to go back to the highway and drive around.

Google Maps had some odd non-existent roads on my place, I suspect as a copyright protection, and I was able to get them to correct and remove the roads from their maps.
