In a bittersweet moment today, we sent off the 2nd of the 222nd Field Artillery, our National Guard unit, the "Triple Deuce", to the Gulf.
In freezing weather and howling wind, better than half the town lined a three mile stretch of Main Street, waiting almost an hour. As their convoy finally streamed past, we gave them all our support, flags and hands waving.
We had Vets, teenagers, contractors on their backhoes, and even a couple of Elementary schools worth of kids. Made me darn proud of where I live.
No matter what you think of the current state of affairs, we need to show our support for the kids, parents, friends and strangers.
