- 1967 Ford 5000 w/FEL(sold), 1950 Farmall Super A for the wife to drive around (needs fixed) 2024 Kubota B2601 FEL & BH
Sorry so long
Very scary, 1st thing is we realized from here on out we will not let people use equipment that can cause bodily injury on our property, we were lucky.
GOD is the one who saved the day.
Basic day working on the property, wife had to work this weekend and the neighbor (72 I think, retired .gov I have know 6+ years the wife for maybe 40 years) up the road came down to hang out etc, he is always here, we adopted him sort of after our parents have passed away and the wife "needs" someone to take care of, he eats with us Saturday/Sunday night.
So he said you want me to help? I can mow the yard and the walking trails, sure sounds good he has done this before, I got mower out, filled it up and he was off mowing, I was on the tractor moving dirt and rocks.
I looked up at him mowing the upper yard, and was thinking WTF is he doing? I told him and my wife not to mow there because you could slide sideways if wet (I leave a 3 ft boundary) and the grass/flowers were about 2-1/2 or 3 ft tall.
I **** you not he drove straight off the Fr*KN bank!!!! as I watched from 50 yards away...I thought NO...he rolled to the left off the mower and bent the arm down 90* as he slide down the bank beside the mower, yes it was still running, he dusted his self off and turned it off as I pulled up. (it NOW does not run unoccupied)
He lucked out because he went down exactly in the lazy 45* corner right side was on 1 bank and left side on the other, if you look to the right of the mower you can see his hands and heal drag marks.
You see the pretty purple flower that used to live in the ravine? This picture was taken a few hours before.
This is where it stopped and you can see dead flower and the hand and feet slide marks to the right.
Please be careful out there, he thinks he saw the grass and it needed to be cut and just didn't remember the bank was there....
I plan to put a fence up more as a visual barrier that will also help with a slow impact of said fence.
I posted this for people to be aware of how fast an accident/crash etc. can happen
