PT 1460, Ventrac 4200, Toro dingo TX425. Bobcat 2200 diesel
Will be putting my beloved 1460 up for sale on ebay in next couple days (bought a Bobcat "toolcat"). Bought PT in Feb 2003 has < 105 hours- perfect condition. Includes 72" finish mower (pump and plate were converted by Power Trac for 1460), 72" standard bucket, and turf tires. Sombody is going to make a GREAT buy. Freinds do let freinds pass up deals like this! If interested email ras@fsoil.com before it gets on ebay

I'd love to have a 1460, but have neither the money nor the justification. The Bobcat looks great on paper. I haven't yet seen one in person. I see its major advantages over the PT to be the heated and air conditioned cab, and the truck bed, but a disadvantage in the cost both of the machine and attachments.
What similarities and differences can you share with us? What made up your mind to make the switch?

Charlie

I can get rid of my PT, kawasaki mule and pickup truck. With the "road package" i can register the "toolcat" for the road. At 18 mph I don't want to go far but the dump, hardware store, feed store, and more are near by. One wouldn't want to take my '82 pickup far anyway. As you may have read from various posts of mine I think the PT is a fabulous machine, especially for the $, but I don't like many of their attachments. They are so close. If the owner of PT had the passion he had to have once had I think they could make real inroads to the skid steer market.

How much would one expect to pay for a toolcat?

It could earn its keep quicker than a gator.

I seem to remember the Toolcat was said to be retailing for about $28k./forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Well you do get a smoother ride due to the suspention set up --- and should be able to licence it for the street as mentioned above. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Toolcat lists for around $30,000 but, that's without cab doors heat and air which are optional except that they at present are "forced options" meaning one can't order a toolcat yet without the cab and those "options" When demand lessens you'll be able to order the less expensive version. At present with the road package they are about $37000 plus attachments.

I've had my Toolcat for 8 months now after seriously contemplating a PowerTrac (I still love the PT's)...the Bobcat's a great machine with many uses. It came in handy the past week doing snow removal. It's an expensive machine, but one that will hold it's value.

Here's a link to my demo thread from the past summer...

Wow. I can't believe I missed that post. Nice looking unit. And the kids can come along safely. Pretty cool. Price.... ouch. But if I could afford one, I'd certainly consider one. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
