Hi Carl,

I think I posted the swinging mini hoe a few years ago. I also have the fixed one you have which works real well, especially handy on deep holes - digs 5' +. For smaller holes and trenches, the swinging one is nice but it only has a 6" wide bucket.

Here is the link to my added hydraulic circuits (one of my more useful mods): Solenoid Valves - Added Hydraulic Circuits

I added a 2 spool hydraulic valve to the right of the steering wheel on my 425. I also added a pre-fabricated 3pt hitch from redland hill to the rear of the PT...

The rear of my pt was modified when I ditched the short lived subaru gas engine for a 24hp Kubota diesel. The hydraulic setup let me dedicate that shin busting lever to the qa, one spool of the new valve to the grapple function of various implements on the front, the other operating the lift cylinder of the rear 3pt hitch. This winter I'll add a selector and plumb the second cylinder on the rear hitch. That way I can switch between grapple and rear tilt.

I don't think the redlandhill hitch is still available but simple enough...

The rear hitch competently handles cat1 or 0 tractor tools for my road and nonfield farm work.

I'll be doing something similar to my 1850 when my skidsteer solutions 3pt hitch w pto arrives in January. That will be mated to a helac rotary actuator like garbage trucks use to lift the cans or excavators use to tilt buckets. The combo on the rear, will make a compact, removable hitch w 30hp to the pto.

I pulled this pic from my post in another thread....it's from before the plumbing was added, but that worked out nicely once the expletives died down...

Also here is a video, from another post that shows the 3pt hitch setup...

Power trac 425 Kubota diesel d115 - YouTube

Total net weight gain is about 175# to the rear half. Yes the hitch and kubota upgrades weigh more than that but I switched the steel engine housing to aluminum...

Thanks all,

After some more research and talking to people, I don't think Power Trac will work out as my first tractor. Mainly as I will be using it so much to pull ground engaging equipment, among some other reasons. I appreciate you offering your opinions and helping me make my decision. They seem like great machines and certainly see the appeal. Would be fun to have one of the smaller machines for little tasks and getting around the property, but that's not in the cards at the moment.

Thanks again!

No problem. I just want people to get the machine that works the best for them and their needs.
