PT 422 or NH TC-18

I know I am supposed to be in low lying wetlands . . . in fact some of my property is considered flood plane. And the views from the house generally see a lot of low and low rolling land. And once you get a mile away from my home the biggest hills we see are the ones where the road is built up over a set of railroad tracks.

But we have some toboggan runs on our property that go down to the low lying lands. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bob, I read all of your posts and finally noticed that your a "neighbor". We run two PT-422's. Use them for drilling post holes, moving material on job sites, and mowing brush. Good machines. Give me a call and stop by to try one out if you like.

Those two look good together. How many hours do they have on them? The one on the left looks new. The one on the right looks like it has had a lot of fun. I too want more pictures. Thanks, Robert /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I would still like to know if a PT could climb my steep hill. It was discussed in a different thread, but never answered. Does anyone know how steep of a hill a PT will ACTUALLY climb? I am not talking about what is it RATED for, I am talking actual ability. My Cub Cadet is not rated for what I put it through, but it was the only garden tractor we could find that could make the run up the hill.

I'm still thinking of buying a PT to use as a dedicated mowing machine to replace the aging Cub and retiring the Cub to my office for lighter duties. But I'd hate to get the PT down the to bottom of the hill and NOT be able to get it back up to the garage! We have one killer of a hill that must be climbed. We put in a limestone staircase to get down to the swimming pool, but most of the mowing we do is 35' below the garage in a small valley and I don't like the idea of driving out the driveway onto the road to go down to the valley area from the road edge as some of the teenagers who drive the road don't really look out for kids, dogs, deer or slow moving tractors! Most any equipment will make the slope down from the road and back up it to the road, but like I said, it is less desirable and not as convenient either.

FFC . . . by the way, my 12 acres overlooks West Creek (the western border of my lots) and sits just a little south of 169th.

FFC, do you use the post hole digger head or the planter drill head? I'm going to get one this spring and I'm leaning toward the planter drill head with more torque when using the bigger planting bits but wondering how difficult it is to drill a vertical hole for posts. Thanks.

We use post hole digger heads and they have plenty of power for any digging that we need. We use a 12" or a 14" auger. With sharp teeth they will dig very well.

Bob: That is us at 151st & 41. My land also borders on the West Creek. Give me a call. (Check our web site for #)
