Actually the machine is in quite good shape. there are no dings or dents in it, it was a rental and the only thing that really look used is the stump cutter and post hole digger, witch both work just fine, all the other attachments are in great shape including the machine. The paint is a little wore off some of them , it was sitting outside for awhile. The seat is generally ok, just a small tear in the one corner. As far as the power thing, I own two cub cadet tractors which are hydrostatic. I can put both of them against a wall and push the peddle and spin the wheels. this will not do that. I understand that it is 4 wheel drive and that the pump has to supply 4 wheels vs 1, but there is only 1 hydraulic motor suppling 2 wheels on the cub and each wheel has a motor on the PT. Then there are gears in the cub and none in the PT> SO I guess the best thing is to run it as it is . if it gets to the point that it doesn't move then I'll replace/rebuild the pump and or motors or both. Thanks again.........Norm

You discribed the sound that it made as a humming sound I was wondering if it was more of a sushing sound. Your machine has a relief valve, if it is bypassing it will make a shushing sound like water being forced through a restricted opening. I beleive the relief valve has a spring in it , that could be broke or weak and causing it to bypass or the spool not sealing off completly those are some things that could cause you to have a weak tram if it is not letting it build the necessary pressure to supply the wheel motors. Another thing that may be a problem someone might have adjusted the releife valve and got the pressure set wrong. I hope you get it lined out without too much trouble or expense and I hope you enjoy your pt.

If you have not actually driven a new PT, you will not have a feel of how the machine is supposed to work. It is no dozer, but should not stall or do nothing with the pedal depressed under a light load. If there is a PT owner close by, he might let you drive his and compare the machines. I bought mine used, and I know it is not operating at it's best. I have replaced a pump and rebuilt several cylinders. I am replacing the PTO pump now. I have to almost pull the engine to get at the PTO pump. They didn't leave any room at all. Your best bet on the power thing, is to take it to a hyd shop and let them test the circuits, and then you will know. How is the steering, and can you lift the the max load?
