Power Trac PT1430 Year made 2016
I was wondering if anyone found a name brand paint that is close to the PT-425 green? Your answers are appreciated.

John Deere green is what I was told they use.

I use JD Green as well.

Valspar 5339-10 in a spray can was pretty darn close.

Thanks guys, I'll give them a try. How do you guys do with starting your Power-Trac in cold weather? Mine has the 15W oil for the hydraulics and it start painfully hard. I'm wondering if the 10W-40 would make a difference since its lighter?

Mine starts to -5F, but I have a Kohler engine. I have been using Mobil 1 5w30 in the engine since the first oil change, and at each 50 hr hydraulic filter change I've added a quart of Mobil 1 5w30 or 40 to top it off. So, with about 500 hours, the stock 40 quarts of 10w40 that came with the unit has been diluted with 10 quarts of Mobil 1.

Does your PT have a 250w heater for the hydraulic tank?

You might want to check the specs on the cold viscosity performance of 5W, 10W, and 15W oil. I think that you might be surprised. There isn't much difference. There are lots of threads elsewhere on the forum.
For the 425s, the tank heaters seem to be the consensus best solution if you don't have a heated garage.

With cold oil, there is always the risk of cavitation in the motors, so it is a good idea to keep the throttle down until the oil is warm.

All the best,

Peter

Wow! It sounds like the Kohler has an advantage over the Robin Subaru. Have you ever heard what the reasoning was for replacing the Kohler with the Robin Subaru? Its an awesome machine and I love the design of it, but its more cold blooded than any machine I've ever owned.

Someone just questioned Power Trac as to why they switched. I think it had something to do with they had to become a Kohler dealer, or bulk sales or most likely the "P" word....

Profit.

Oh, okay.Have you been plowing much snow with it this winter? Do you think the plow works well with the PT-425?

If you're talking to me, we've had about 78" of snow this season. The largest single day was about 15". We had the 5th coldest February with temps 12 degrees below normal. 24 days saw the HIGH temp below 32. We had a record 38" of snow in February. And this winter snowfall was considerably less than last year. I only have two piles of snow in my yard. Last year I had a pile 6' high and 150' long x 8' wide. I've been plowing with it since 2001. Our yard is table-top flat, so can't comment on plowing on slopes. I've heard others report an issue with crabbing sideways on slick side slopes, and chains have been mentioned.

I'm sure that machine of yours has enough weight and power with that Duetz to get some serious plowing done. Yeah, that skidding is a small issue with my Steiner 430 Max. That sure is allot of snow. Snow blowers would definitely be justified for use up there. Down here you can get every thing plowed with a blade, generally speaking.

Moss does not have the larger PT's with the diesel. His is a gas PT425 (Kohler Engine).

Yes, I have the little guy... 2001 model year PT425 with the Kohler. 60" power angle snow plow is my best buddy in the winter. I keep thinking of getting a blower, but I can clear the drive in three passes with the plow, 5 passes on the neighbor's drive, then a few back-and-forths out at the street where the county plow wreaks havoc!

I have a 1999 pt 422 with over 2,228 hours on it I have the turf tires, no chains and I plow my drive which is gravel about 300 ft long on a slope and I do not have problems very often with traction. I also have the 60 inch snow blade which I had 18 inches added to the width and it pushes the snow without any power problems, we have not had any really deep heavy snows these last several years, but that would probably be a challenge as the power trac does not have the weight needed.
