What model/part # NAPA filter did Power Trac tell you to use?

Hope the new filter does solve your problem.

NAPA filter # 1551.
I changed the filter again and it had no affect on the machine.

After several talks with PT, they sent me a new tram pump.
I changed the pump and that seems to have done the trick.
I don't believe PT has a bad batch of filters. I think they have a bad batch of tram pumps, as my machine is not the only one that has had to have a tram pump replaced. I can only hope that i get more than 5 hrs out of this one.

I am so glad that your problem was resolved; I've had my 425 for several months (about 65 hours operating time) with no problems, but, like any machine, there will be some.

I agree that PT's manual and lack of labor on warranty is not good at all, but the simplicity of the machine and sturdy construction will probably make long term use and maintenance cheaper and easier.

Was changing the pump difficult? Even though the setup of components is not complex, it appears that a LOT of disassembly would be needed to do the work you did.

Sorry you had this problem.

Do you know if PT manufactures their own pumps? Or is it a 'standard' one?

Good to hear you have it working again. Sorry about your hassles, though. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The entire change took about 6 hrs. I removed the fuel tank and battery to make it easier to work on. The tight working area is what makes it so difficult. Tough to get wrenches and your hands in some areas. Lots of oil !!!! took 8 quarts to fill it back up and I used 6 rolls of paper towels to clean up.
PT told me that they must have gotten a hold of some bad pumps, so that makes me believe that they do not manufacture their own pumps, but i can't say for sure.
I unloaded 3 tons of #8 gravel yesterday, using the bucket, and it worked like a dream. Saved a lot of shoveling.
I want to say thank you to all who helped me out and voiced your concerns.
I really do appreciate it.

PT does not manufacture pumps, motors and most other hydraulic parts. They do manufacture hydraulic cylinders.
