PT Hydraulic Tank Question

Regarding magnets, you can buy a couple neodymium magnets off ebay pretty cheap. I have some chrome coated ones and they are the strongest magnets I've ever seen.

I have a hydraulic oil drain plug at the bottom of my hydraulic tank, which I am thinking of using when I build the external filter. A magnet could be placed on the inside of the plug to pick up loose metal particles floating close to the magnet.

Do you know the full intent of these magnets surrounding fuel lines. It is not to remove metal particles from the lines, from what I remember, it is supposed to align the molecules in the fuel so that it could flow better. I have always thought of this as kind of ho-key/phony. If this theory were creditable, it would be on every fuel line every where . It's Just a way to sell a product. As a magnet placed near metal, it will do a creditable job of attracting ferrous metals.

But they're so much more compact then using a pyramid.

Well put JJ !- Go to the E-Bay site and go to page 7 of the sellers store- to last item on page - That should sum things up regarding ho-key/phony!!!

OK, I think I was not clear on my idea. While I do enjoy the aluminum foil I wear over my head and the Pyramid that keeps my food fresh, I don't buy the magnets and gas theory.

But, this was kind of a cool magnet that might be able to trap metal while clamped over an oil hose as opposed to mounting stuff inside the oil tank.

That said, after I thought it through I realized the force of the oil in a hose would never work...

Now, excuse my while I put those crytals under my pillow and go to bed....

Carl,

You really crack me up!!!

I am afraid to say I have a Sister-In-Law who is into crystals. I will ask her to get you some. The scientist in me cringes almost as bad as the fuel magnets.

I sent you a message about tank magnets.

Ken

On a news program that I watched some where they did a consumers report on these gizmos that is supposed to save gas, they said that of the ones that they tried none of them worked. Oh yea the price is usually low enough that it wouldn't lighten your wallet enough to make that much difference in your gas millage either. If someone found a good use for those type gizmos they could change their ads and get that fellow that screams at you to advertize it for them, you know the one that gets muted when his commercial comes on.

LOL :p :p Sounds like the 70's allover again. I think we knew what you were trying to do with the magnets, but i thought that ebayer page looked like the magic effects were the main point of it. Besides i dont think you need magnets to get gas, at least thats been my experience.

I've always liked the plenum you put in front of your carb to "stabilize" the air flow.
