PT Will not start at an angle

Seems like i remember, back in the good old days, starting some diesel thing with the key but shutting it off turning something else. Probably a mechanical shut-off valve. Can't imagine something like that on such a new machine and shutting off at some weird angle.

The older Mercedes diesel cars had a red shutoff lever on the injection pump in case the ignition key-operated shutoff failed. Might have been a common approach. Probably won't help Carl, though...

The Deutz engines have a manual fuel cutoff as well. On the 2011 series, it is a lever at the extreme back end of the engine, i.e. on your right, as you face the filters and dipstick. It is just above the throttle control.

I hope to never have to use it.

Carl- If you can start your engine with the engine cable disconnected, someone did some wiring changes inside the engine, or you have a fuel solenoid that sticks open, except when pointing downhill. Have you tested the green wire to see when there is 12V on which side? i.e. is there always 12V on the engine side (because it is miswired) or
12V on the key side, except when you are downhill, or...

Just to clarify, the 2011 series don't have low oil senders, just a pressure guage that you have to watch.

All the best,

Peter

Carl,

Did you ever solve your problem about the no-start , down hill situation? It sounds very much like a low oil situation caused by the oil going to the downhill side side of the sump. There are at least two ways you can temporarily remedy this situation. 1. Add some more oil to the sump, and remove some oil after it starts and is level. 2. Trick out the low oil switch, which might mean shorting out the low oil switch or opening the low oil switch. You just need to know the normal mode for this switch.

Carl,

I just thought of something else. If you were using your PTO, and the engine quit for whatever reason, I don't think you can start the engine with the PTO switch on.

No, I have not fixed it, but I am being more consceintous of where I stop.

There is something way funky in my engine wiring. I do not want to get into it as it is running and I have little patience for problems right now.

I have to find this low oil relay. I thought it was my problem as well. but Terry thinks differently.
