Wooo Hoo!!! With all that money you saved you owe us dinner ;-) Or at least owe yourself a new implement.

Now, lets get that overheating issue addressed.

Druummm rolllll....
She works!
Seems as though the Optimists on the forum had the facts on their side and the tram pump seems to still work. Have not run the PTO or anything, but I could steer and lift the bucket.

Lessons learned from this expensive mishap:
1. The forum and the contributing members are the key source of repair knowledge. Between WoodlandFarms, J_J, toy, and many others, we had this problem nailed before I even called the factory a.k.a. Terry
2. Repair procedures explained by the experienced members are like a Chilton book, only better. I had all of my tools needed, procedures in order - such as when to remove the hoses. Before I took off the cylinders. How to easily route the hoses, etc. Big time saving information.
3. Keep spares on hand of cylinders, fittings, filters and key valves IF your operation is time sensitive. Otherwise, most of them seem to be no more than 2 days away in a crunch.
4. I need an oil monitoring system installed ASAP to prevent this from happening again. In process and will share the details.
5. Power-trac tractors are easy to work on and swap parts. At least at the system level. Since the Deutz motor can go over 12000 hrs - a life time of farming for me - the main issues will be the hydraulic and cooling systems.
6. NO MORE RAMMING ANYTHING! I think Ksisolo or someone mentioned my bucket technique was wrong. I am all ears!

Thanks crew for your support, info, well wishes, and your interest. The battle has been won!

In I believe it was post 38 that I tried to explain how I dug into a pile of dirt or a bank of dirt, it works for me.

I don't know about that... with the "edge of your seats" entertainment PT1445Farmer has been providing us for the last week, maybe we should start a collection and buy him something nice for his PT...

Now, lets get that overheating issue addressed.

If you choose cool cloudy days after a rainy night before for field mowing, overheating is not as much an issue. If you don't mind mowing in some light rain, even better. Wet chafe don't seem to get sucked into the oil cooler. I even did some late fall mowing during a light snow storm. That was one cool running PT. That is, until the fire. But that was another story already told.

With my unique ability to blow apart any tool, vehicle, or electronic item exactly when it is needed, I suspect there will be much more PT1445 entertainment to follow.

Not bragging of course, but at the same time I busted the PT, I had also broken my F350 7.3L 4wd pick-up, two motorcycles, my Deutz tractor - ruined the transmission and cannot get it into 3rd gear, then topped it off by nailing my F150 circuits. What a great week that was!

After I fulfill my promise to WF about cutting his initials into my 10 acre lower pasture, I will cordially invite all PT's out for a cookout!
My farm is about as far from any major city as it could be, since there are no major cities within 3 hours - but the steaks will be worth it!

Thanks again for the motivation. I may not have rushed back to fix this tractor were it not that I had been "nudged" by this board to report back.
Could not let all of you down!

Dood!

Sounds like you are one of those guys who can break a crowbar in a sandbox or destroy an anvil with a ball point pen. I work with one of those. He's a great guy and he gets a lot of work done really fast. He also provides me with job security because I get to fix most of the stuff he breaks.

If you're like him, slowing down 10% would cut down damage by about 90%...

I'm looking forward to future stories of mechanical mayhem. Spraying oil about can be great fun, but please keep your personal vital fluids contained, huh?

LOL!!! Guilty! Just "gifted" I guess. Expecting my destructive habits to reform when I move up to the farm for a week or two at a time after I build the cabin.
Considering how the PT will be used heavily for the cabin project, more entertainment coming - though hopefully not too soon.
