I should have added that I have the 48" brush mower....not the finish mower.
Have not had any problems maneuvering since moving the deck forward.

I think everyone will see cracks in the 48" brush cutter. It is inevitable, even with the mounts in the factory position. I know mine has the cracks and several people here also reported them. I just welded mine up for now, but it is a weak design at those corners.

Same problem here. I welded and bolted angle iron on. In certain conditions it is easy to put all of the front weight of the PT on the mower.

The weakest part of the metal is at the edge of the weld. I think a bolt and nut attachment would be just as strong if not better in the long run. I would also consider a backing plate.

My 48" cracked too, fixed so far by welding it.

Just in addition. My 90" the cross bar bent to heck in a week. One bump on a tree tweeked it quite bad. This spring I cut off the ears and welded on a thicker box piece...

Since I only use it a couple times a year, and it's 900 miles away, it hasn't made it to the top of the to-do list yet. It's hard enough to find/take time to do the essential maintenance (oil changes, filters, etc.) when I'm visiting TN, much less fix things that are "just starting to fail" list...
