Since this is an air-cooled engine that might not be a good strategy. The lower the throttle, the slower the fan speed, the less cooling. You should probably be running this at full throttle whenever you're doing any work, which loads down the engine.
Would be nice if they added a liquid cooled engine to the lineup.
As to noise, I agree with MR and Paul, you gotta wear some decent hearing protection. The best kinds are the plugs for your ears but the more comfortable kind (in my opinion) are the huge ones that fit over your ears. I also wear eye protection when I mow the lawn with my lawn tractor as you can never anticipate something ugly being thrown back at you. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
I guess I'm just used to using a lot of power equipment and heavy equipment so it's not a big deal for me. But none of the neighbors seem to use any protection. I can never figure that out. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
