PT425 Steering Valve Noises

Eyup. I just realized the same on my 1850 in terms of flow control.

As the pumps on the larger machines have various unused ports, I wonder if you could direct connect. I guess then you would need an accumulator on each connection... It gets complicated and expensive...

Thanks. Which SuperLube do you use?

On my 1445.

I believe AUX is for additional circuits, like the lift and curl circuits.

Like ponytug said, when you use all the fluid for the steering, none is left for the lift/curl.

If not steering, all pump fluid should go to the FEL. However some lift /curl can be used if not steering hard.

Steering has priority in that valve, and rightly so.

I put the valve back in Friday night and greased the bajeebers out of the ball joints on both ends of the steering rams. Let it sit overnight. Fired it up Saturday morning, ran it out into the drive squeaking like crazy. Ran it lock to lock about a dozen times and low and behold the squeaking stopped!!! Ran it around the yard. No leaks or squeaks. Mowed the yard while towing the lawn sweeper for an hour or so. No squeaks or leaks.

Took it out to our remote property today and pulled firewood for close to 6 hours. No leaks or squeaks.

I feel kinda foolish that I thought it was the valve, but the noises sure seemed to come from there.

I am also thankful that Terry at Power Trac did his best to convince me not to spend money needlessly! It says something for their honesty and integrity.

Dear MossRoad,

I use the basic spray Superlube.

It is what Terry recommended to me. I soak it at the eight hour lube, and anytime in between that it seems dry, as sometimes I'm running the PT around in dust/dirt/weeds that can physically strip the lubricant more easily.

I'm glad to hear it was just the lubrication. Three cheers for Terry!

All the best,

Peter

Thanks. Which SuperLube do you use?

Soaking steel in lubricant? 8 hours? Help me on this one. Steel is not impervious?

The training from PT says to lube everything every 8 hours of operation. I try to do that religiously. I have been using white lithium spray grease. No problems in 11 years until now. I'll be looking for some super lube. (thanks for the link Ponytug).
