PTO Cable finally broke

The last few times I enaged the mower at idle it was a bit jerky starting up. Today the cable broke off at the lever end. The cable must have been hanging on by a few threads and stretched towards the end. It lasted 368 hours and seven years.

I called four dealers near here and nobody stocks it. I ordered the cable and the new improved lever.

I thought about making a lever to engage it and skip the cable. I'm busy and I need to mow so it will have to wait. After taking the lower panel off I think a lever could be made and attached to the panel. Maybe next time.

I lube mine about every 6 months. I used Honda lube for cables. Spray it into the top end and hope it runs down. What lube are you using and how do you lube it?

It broke right at the lever where you engage it.

I use fluid film, I spray around 1 cc into a syringe with needle and inject it into the upper boot and in about 5 minutes it will be at the lower boot, I also give the under part of the lever a little spray, cross my finger's and hope for the best .

Thanks J. I have fluid film. That's really good stuff. I've been using it on my snow blower. I'll use it on the cable now.
