pto clutch seems locked up. how can I free it?

I have JD 1050. It is a 4 wheel drive with power steering and pto. The clutch doesn't seem to be disengaging properly any suggestions. Also looking for a ball joint for the steering arm to the the power steering unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Is clutch pedal free travel adjusted correctly? You could try operating a pto dyno(if local dealer has one) with clutch pedal blocked down.

Worked on a 1070 a few years back. It was a two stage clutch that was stuck to the flywheel. With the clutch pedal blocked down, I was able to pop the clutch plates free with a screwdriver through a access hole, I believe was on the right side of the tractor.

Hook up an implement (like a mower) and operate it with the clutch pedal depressed. It will soon disengage. I don't recommend prying it. This might fracture the organic clutch material or scratch the flywheel. That will lead to premature wear-out. Just run the machine for a few minutes with a load on it.

Appreciate your advise. I will give that a try. Not looking forward to splitting it right now.I'll let you know what happens.
