Not sure if anyone else does this, but the rear 540-PTO shield (the small plastic unit) when removed will go on and fasten as intended on the mid PTO. Therefore, if you want a little protection from trash below while doing non-mower deck work, the PTO shield will help.

FYI- I purchased as second one and run them both (540 and mid PTO), during loader and snow work and believe the price is around $5-$6.

My 4010 came with a metal PTO shield over the mid PTO. I lost it once, found it and put it back on. I don't know whether it'll also work on the rear PTO, as I use the rear one but not the mid one.

Initially, I thought the thing was maybe my hydraulic filter. Turns out, the filter is behind a cap behind the lower 3 ph shaft on the 4010. Requires removal of one of the rear wheels to get to it. No problem.
