I have a scheduled service on my 4410 tomorrow so I will solve this soon. When using my PTO pump I usually can get off the seat as long as the PARKING brake is on AND the tranny is in NEUTRAl. Yesterday I was pumping water to the garden and could not get off the seat. Anyone know what I missed?

Hi

I have to do this when I use my PTO generator. I think that the sequence is important.
1) set parking brake and shift to neutral
2) start engine and set at 1500 RPM
3) get off seat
4) engage rear PTO

Hope this helps.

If you engage the PTO while seated, it will shut off if you leave the seat. If you engage it while off the seat, it won't matter.

In addition to the other suggestions, make sure that the mid pto is disengaged.

The service guy was here today. He is looking into the problem. For now he showed me how to unplug the seat switch BUT he did not say to do that. He is guessing a neutral switch. I tried every combination of on/off suggested. None worked.

I've attached a tension cord to the top of the seat, pulling down on it. Mild tension is all that's needed to keep the switch engaged on the seat.

Ralph--don't you have the lift-up switch and wire frame under your seat like the 4110/4115?

Yes, I have the lift-up switch, but it doesn't take very much pressure on the seat to keep it happy. All you have to do is hook a tension cord to the ribbing at the top of the seat and hook the other end somewhere to gently hold the seat down. Doesn't take much tension. You won't hurt the seat where the hook is. If you're greatly worried about this, run some sort of ribbing around the seat and connect the hook to that behind the seat.
