pto engagement

A 5 ft brush cutter is really too big for a GC or any sub compact tractor (including Deere and Kubota), even if you are just cutting light stuff. The inertia required to stop and start the mower is taxing the PTO on that size of tractor. If you have a friend or nieghbor with a 4 ft brush cutter, ask them if you can borrow it for a few minutes. I am willing to bet your problem will go away.

I have the Massey 4ft for my GC2310, and it does indeed shake the tractor when I engage the PTO. If is just above idle it will stall out, I have to rev it 1/4 throttle and it is ok, although it feels like the tractor is going to fly apart and i cringe every time i start it. There is a lot of inertia to start the blades. When i shut it down, it rocks the tractor abit when the blades come to a stop. Under full cutting of brush, grass the GC handles it fine.

BTW: be sure the blades move freely, mine get a bit stiff where they pivot so i make sure they are well greased and move free. :)

On my rear snowblower, if I engage at too high an rpm, or fully raised 3ph, I usually have to change the shear pin.

I wish I had read this before I started using a rear snowblower on my GC2310 a couple of days ago. I'm on my third shearpin in 3 days, and every time the shearpin snapped, the snowblower was empty, but I was trying to engage it at full RPM.
