Well..

I'm just wondering if operating it 3100 rpm is good for it. Thats mowing rpm. I was hoping it would just chug along at a lower rpm lol (like the neighbours big boy tractor).
This is my first SCUT, so.. I wasn't exactly sure if that rpm was good for an extended period of time if there is an ice storm or brown out for a few days. (yes.. I know you don't need to run it all the time), but I'm just going through the final stages of figuring this out. If my power is out.. and I get a PTO gen.. I want to use it without too many restrictions.

Another quick question..

I was wondering.. since my little bx will be running at 3100 rpm ish.. to get the required 60HZ..

Is it possible to hook up something to a fly wheel or something ( I have no idea or terminology ) to accurately describe it.. but it will help lower the RPM of the tractor? Or is the rpm not a big deal?

A non issue. The engineers designed the machine to operate at 3100rpm. Go out and enjoy your tractor instead of worrying.
Now if the tractor was a prime mover to generate base load power for a utility, irrigation or marine propulsion for 8000 hours per year for 30 years. Then a 600, 720 or 900 rpm engine would be used.

Thanks for the input.

When I'm mowing I don't think the tractor is revving so high.. but when I got off and walked away.. I thought.. wow.. that's a bit louder than I thought.
Being new and not having the experience.. I wanted to cover my bases BEFORE I jumped in and took a certain path. That puts my mind at ease. :)

They call it 'rated' pto hp.

If the machine won't make its rated power ( at rated rpm ), from full tank to empty, you need to sell it.

Good for it? That's a loaded question.

For sure, running at rated rpm is more wear, however, its designed for that wear and rpm. In fact, constant idlng could wear it more by not letting it warm up, and eventually lead to slobbering.

Think of your car... Its made to run hiway speed till it runs out of gas. And remember, its a machine like a lawnmower, it needs periodic maint, and as with any tool it may need repair with use.

A pto Gen is not any more of an extraordinary load any more than a mower or tiller.. The engine sees a "load"

Ps, while building my farm, waiting on the elec co to drop poles, I ran for days on my 1955 ford 660 & a 12.5kw pto Gen.

When it would stall out, I'd go fill the gas tank and check the oil..
