PTO Generator Choices

Howdy,
Buying a PTO generator is a lifelong decision. Go with a better grade generator. I would also recommend you upsize the PTO generator. It's one of those pieces that will last you a lifetime and pass on to kids and their lifetime. A PTO generator can sit there and not be used for a long time. You have your tractor, and/or tractors all running and maintained. You will always have maintenance cost, nothing is life is free. Think about what your electrical needs are, and get a PTO generator that will be at 50% capacity, that way you will have room for future growth. You really do not need to buy one, and turn around and sell it a year later to then buy a bigger unit. A bigger unit will also spin behind a smaller HP just fine. You might not get the full capacity, but it will work.
I have a Tiger Power 30kw pto generator. I power a good portion of the farm with it. The PTO generator plugs into my central farm distribution, which covers well, house, shop, barns etc.. I always have a tractor available to run it.

Some ideas for connecting to your house can be found at this post of mine here generator transfer switch choices

Tiger Power PTO generator 30KW running prime with 90KW surge (AVR rated)

I"ll 2nd that as well.

Generally an 1800rpm generator is quieter than an 3600rpm generator.
As previously stated the generator is less likely to burn out appliances , motors and electronics is equipped with a real voltage regulator that holds output voltage steady from no load to full load.
I hope the connection is not some male to male suicide cord plugged into a welder receptacle, clothes dryer receptacle or a stove receptacle. Maybe cheap, may even sort of work for a while. Hazardous to you , your family, your property and your assetes when an utility worker or emergency worker is maimed or killed.
Outright illegal too but then again that attracts some people.

I'm going to do a real install. I work as an electrical engineer specializing in power systems. Mostly what I do is design Solar PV Systems ranging in size from a few kW to mega watt size systems. Many of these systems include generators, battery up and sophisticated control systems.

The trailer arrived today adn I picked up a PTO shaft. The generator should be here tomorrow.

Almost all of use here are very glad to hear that. We still have some folk here who really sincerely think that a double male suicide cord plugged into a welder receptacle is acceptable.

I know. We work on several hundred homes a year and it's hard to believe what we run into. We take pictures of everything for our records.
