Good suggestion Tommu. If it is still under warranty he might void that if they think he is inside of the unit.

I think the thread was reopened with this new generator.. Yeah I would want that long of a warranty also.

Five year warranty on Tiger-Power Generators according to their website. I will have to double check my paperwork. The dealer who sold it to me is no longer a registered dealer, but that may not matter.

The unit is brushless, so that rules out that possibility, but good suggestion.

I hope to monkey around with it tonight, again, weather permitting.

old thread ..

I have a similar flicker with a 6500/5500 watt gas standby generator. I only have a meter that reads voltage and it is rock steady at 120V.

It is not the tractor. Like one of the posters said it is probably the regulator in the genset.

If I load up the generator it smooths out the flicker ..but my microwave doesn't like it at all. I also have a 10kw output from a Lincoln welder which uses an inverter (Kubota diesel powered) and it does not have the flicker.

I would be interested if there is a fix to the flicker issue that isn't too costly.

cheers

I have not had problems with incandescents, but man the fluorescents don't like home made power.

If your lights are flickering you can be weakening equipment that is sensitive to line frequency and power stability. A decent suppressor should help smooth that out. Google them and see what you find.

Yes electronics don't like fluctuations.

I would want to put it in line to the power coming into the house. That would probably cost me more then the generator is worth. The Lincoln is my main backup which doesn't have problem.

thanks
