Generator PTO generator speed

Two things;
a) MANY items aren't as frequency dependent as some posters imagine.
This is because they have motors that are typically rated for 47 to 63 Hz - World market, etc.
b) It will matter a lot less if/when PTO generators built with inverters become more generally available.
Many small gas gen-sets and welders have been this way for a while now, PTO gens are "lagging"(electrical pun - sorta).

Sorry I am trying to wrap my head around this stuff. Perhaps I should have paid more attention in High School. what is an inverter? and how does it differ from a generator?

A generator/alternator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. An inverter converts direct current (DC) electrical energy into alternating current (AC).
