Buying Advice PTO Generator

I need to buy the correct PTO generator for my Massey GC2400.
I want to ensure I have the correct match for the PTO rated HP of 18.7. Is a 10KW the correct size? I am looking at the IMD PTO10-2SAVR - 10kW Tractor-Driven PTO Generator w/ AVR (540 RPM) for $1429 online. Good choice ? suggest a better choice?

I'd perfer one that is mounted on wheels which I'd prefer. I'd also like to see one in a showroom anywhere in souther NH or MA.

I'm also looking into PTO generators. From what I've read, it is recommended to have 2 PTO HP per kW. Your M-F, with 19 PTO HP (rounded up) should handle a 7kW, 7.5kW and that 10kW generator...but you might not get full advantage of the 10kW unit.

Anyway, there have been a few really good threads (on TBN) recently (after that late Oct surprise snow storm). Do a search (using the TB search function) using "PTO generator" as the query....it's good reading!

I think you would appreciate the research you could do and information you would get if you would do a search on TBN, this site, for " PTO Generators " and just read the posts in the threads...there is a ton of information and suggestions for types and models and critiques on the good and the bad... Just go to the top of any page here and click search and see if that does not help you.

You wont find IMD in a show room, I've got one in 10KW, they are sold by distributors and drop shipped to your house. They seem to be a good company to work with. Even though I ordered mine thru a distributor I only corresponded with the company (IMD) directly.

The distributor was basically a housewife with a lap top on her kitchen table.
But like I said the IMD people were very helpful and took alot of calls from me and spent alot of time on the phone with my questions.
And I ask alot of questions, some wise guy once asked me if I was a "Reporter"

Mine came with some very minor damage to the case, but since I was paying for it I didn't want the scratch and dent model unless they would deduct something off the price. I didn't even call the distributor but just dealt with the company, they were good about it and sent another. freight paid by them of course.

Get the 3pt carrier instead of the trailer.

Sounds like a good match. You can always go a bit larger in generator and it will just bog the engine down. Sometimes going a little bigger on the generator set will allow you to power through a larger surge than a smaller unit. All good advice from the previous posters.

After being without power for several days, i also have considered the pto generator for my gc2600. But I have to say I am a bit concerned about leaving my tractor running unattended for hours at a time. I may opt for a traditional portable generator. Does anyone else feel that way? Fred

I suugest you also do that search Brin and I suggested. There was one thread in which your concerns were discussed extensively.
